PHOTOS: Woman trapped in car wrapped around utility pole

It took emergency responders more than an hour to free a woman from a wrecked Toyota Mark X after it crashed into a utility pole on the Rose Hall road in Montego Bay, St James this afternoon.

The woman was a passenger in the car, heading towards Montego Bay, when the driver lost control of it.

The vehicle then ran off the road and crashed into a median before ending up in the utility pole.

Passersby worked for several minutes to free the woman from the wreckage before emergency responders arrived.

They were eventually able to free the woman with the use of heavy duty equipment and rushed her to hospital.

The woman who sustained obvious injuries was bleeding while rescuers attempted to free her from the mangled metal.
