VIDEO: Bashment buses continue to drive
A decision by the police to crack down on unruly bus operators across Jamaica seems to be making little difference on the streets of the Corporate Area.
Last month, following an announcement by the Government that the guidelines regarding tints on public passenger vehicles would be enforced, the police were seen on the streets in numbers removing tints and loud music systems.
Since then, head of the Police Traffic and Highway Division, Senior Superintendent Calvin Allen, has reported a high level of voluntary compliance by public transport operators with the rules regarding tints.
NO CHANGE
But when our news team checked the streets of the Corporate Area over the past two weeks, the usual sighting of overcrowded minibuses with dark tints and loud vulgar music was evident, particularly in the Waltham Park Road, Three Miles, Hagley Park Road and Spanish Town Road areas.
In addition, several bus drivers were seen making illegal turns on the major roadways, letting off and taking up passengers at random points and generally making life hellish for other motorists.
