Six cop prestigious Governor General's Achievement Awards

Six volunteers from the Diaspora yesterday received the coveted Governor General's Achievement Awards at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston. 

The recipients are from Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The Canadian recipients were community and cultural activist Donika Jones and PhD candidate Bishop Glenroy Duffus. 

From the United Kingdom, business developer Tanesha Westcarr and lawyer Vendrys Henry copped the award while adult education programme developer Erin Lue-Hing and lawyer Joan Pinnock received the award from the United States of America. 

Governor General Sir Patrick Allen Sir Patrick Allen says the receipts embody the values and attitude that Jamaicans hold dear.

Since 2008, the Governor General Achievement Award has been given to members of the Jamaican Diaspora who have made great effort to advance Jamaica and Jamaicans within the Diaspora.
