'Aunt Fay' remembered for her kindness and jovial spirit

Family and friends turned out yesterday at the Swallowfield Chapel in St Andrew to celebrate the life of Lydia Faith Brown, who most called 'Aunt Fay'.

The service, led by the Elder Leroy Williams and Pastor Kermitt Jones, was lively and joyful, though there were painful moments for grief-stricken members of the congregation.

Aunt Fay was remembered as a woman who enjoyed life while she had it, but most of all, loved her family and those she considered friends.

Her granddaughter, Jennifer Marcus, in paying tribute, mentioned that Aunt Fay also loved her entertainment.

"We enjoyed watching some of her favourite TV shows with her, like Walker Texas Ranger, WrestleMania or boxing. She enjoyed dancing and could fit in at any social gathering. Whether it was a younger crowd or a more mature crowd, she would fit it," said Marcus.

The Gleaner's Nordia Craig also paid tribute to Aunt Fay, who she came to know through her Gleaner colleague and friend, Sandra Brown-Bennett, Aunt Fay's daughter.

The tributes were followed by glorious hymns that lifted the mood of the thanksgiving service even as many wondered how they will fill the void in their lives left by Aunt Fay.
