A businessman who is being accused of rape was today granted $500,000 bail when he appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court.

The bail application was made by attorney-at-law Courtney Rowe on behalf of 40-year-old Pu Jong Zeng.

The businessman was ordered to surrender his travel documents and must reappear in court on January 18 next year.

Allegations are that the accused and the complainant went to a hotel in Portmore, St Catherine, where he reportedly raped her.

The following day the woman reported the matter to the police who launched an investigation.
