EOJ boss heads back to court

Director of Elections Orrette Fisher's application for leave to go to the Judicial Review Court to compel the Electoral Commission to keep him on the job is set to be heard today.

Fisher's one-year-appointment to the post officially ended on October 31, but he was allowed to remain on the job until today’s hearing.

The elections boss is contending that his one-year appointment was illegal because the law clearly states that the appointment must be for seven years.

Governor General Sir Patrick Allen and the Electoral Commission of Jamaica are the respondents in the case.
