$6.6m worth of cocaine found in Canadian man's luggage

A Canadian man who attempted to smuggle a quantity of cocaine valued at J$6.6 million was arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston on Wednesday.

The police say his identity is being withheld pending further investigations.

They say the Canadian checked in and was waiting to board a flight for his homeland when a police sniffer dog drew attention to his suitcase.

The bag was searched and 14 packages of cocaine were allegedly found in a false compartment of the suitcase.

The police say the drug weighed 5.5 kilograms, with an estimated value of $6.6 million.
