Owner of vehicle in shoot-out near Spanish Town courthouse being sought
The St Catherine North Police are now trying to determine the whereabouts of the registered owner of the White Toyota Probox motor car that was involved in Tuesday's shoot-out near the Spanish Town courthouse.
One man was shot and killed, another shot and injured and a third escaped after being involved in a three-vehicle collision and engaging the police in a shoot-out.
Senior Superintendent in charge of the division, Beau Rigabie, says early indications are that the car, which operates as a route taxi, was stolen.
SSP Rigabie says the police are now investigating the disappearance of the owner.
Meanwhile, the police have released the names of both men.
The deceased man has been identified as 21-year-old mechanic Nicholas Atkinson, of March Pen Road in Spanish Town.
SSP Rigabie says no charges have been laid against the 20 year old in custody as yet but there are plans to question him in the presence of his attorney shortly.
He says the third suspect is now being actively pursued by the police.
