Prime Minister Andrew Holness has declared a State of Public Emergency in sections of the Corporate Area.

The enhanced security measure covers communities in St Andrew Central, St Andrew Southern and Western Kingston.

As a result, movement in troubled communities such as Denham Town, Trench Town and sections of Maxfield Avenue, where there have been flare-ups of criminal activities, is now restricted due to the state of emergency.

This latest announcement is a continuation of the government's use of emergency powers to clamp down on crime hotspots on the island.
