Six additional COVID-19 deaths, 50 more cases

Jamaica on Saturday recorded six COVID-19 fatalities, pushing the tally to 970.

Those who have died are:

* A 50-year-old woman from St Catherine
* A 32-year-old female from St Catherine
* A 53-year-old male from St Catherine
* An 80-year-old man from Westmoreland
* A 78-year-old man from St Ann
* A 79-year-old male from Kingston & St Andrew

Meanwhile, there were 50 new cases with ages ranging from one to 88 years, pushing the total to 48,951 with 21,307 being active.

Of the new cases, 15 are men and 35 are women.

St Catherine accounts for the majority of the new infections with 20 cases being recorded in the parish.

The country's positivity rate stands at 5.2%.

A total of 2,162 tests were conducted.

In the meantime, there were 193 new recoveries, increasing the total to 26,295.

Some 137 persons are in hospital with 30 being moderately ill and seven critically ill.

Four persons are in government quarantine, while 35,290 are at home.
