Hi-Pro rallies to support farmers affected by Hurricane Beryl

On Tuesday, July 9, Hi-Pro distributed baby chicks and feed to small broiler farmers in May Pen, Clarendon who suffered losses due to the devastating impact of Hurricane Beryl on the farming community.

“We have always stood shoulder to shoulder with the nation’s farmers through every hardship and in the wake of Hurricane Beryl, Hi-Pro’s commitment remains strong. We are dedicated to providing the essential resources needed to help farmers get back to the business of farming. We urge everyone to rally together and support our resilient farmers who are the backbone of our communities and whose production guarantees a degree of food independence,” said Colonel (ret’d) Jaimie Ogilvie, vice president of the Hi-Pro Division of Jamaica Broilers Group Limited.

The donation marked the first leg of the company’s relief effort to farmers.

Emphasising the importance of unity during crises, and as part of the company’s continued dedication to giving back to its communities, Hi-Pro will donate significant resources to ensure that the farmers can quickly recover and rebuild.

According to a media release, the initiative will target the hardest-hit areas across the country and include donations of feed, baby chicks and crop packages (seeds, fertiliser, and chemicals). The goal is to help farmers resume production quickly and mitigate the negative impact of Hurricane Beryl on Jamaica’s food security.

Hi-Pro will continue to explore additional ways to assist and advocate for the needs of farmers as they work to rebuild their lives and businesses.
