St Andrew mason charged with murder
The St Andrew police have charged 29-year-old mason Fitzroy Taylor, also known as 'Kenroy,' in connection with last week's murder of a 36-year-old welder at his home in Red Hills in the parish.
In addition to the murder charge, Taylor has been charged with using a firearm to commit a felony, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
The incident occurred around 7 a.m. when the now deceased Marlon Newsome was on the verandah at his home on Blue Mountain Road.
The police report that an altercation ensued between him and Taylor, during which Taylor allegedly used a firearm to shoot Newsome multiple times.
Police were alerted, and Newsome was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Taylor was charged on Friday, after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
