The Trelawny police have charged a 49-year-old man with the murder of his girlfriend on April 5.

Sherman Sterling, of Salt Spring road, Quarry district, St James, is also charged with possession of unauthorised ammunition, possession of a prohibited weapon and use of a prohibited weapon to commit a felony.

The Falmouth police say the body of 32- year-old Sandria Williams of Albion Road, St James, was found along the Holland road in Trelawny.

Investigations were carried out and forensic data connected Sterling, who was her boyfriend, to the murder.

On Monday, a question and answer session was carried out with Sterling in the presence of his attorney and he was charged.

A court date is being finalised.
