Woman wants $500,000 refund from car dealer

A British woman who gave her brother $500,000 to help purchase a car from Rich and Wealthy Car Dealer is demanding a refund of her money after the vehicle was not forthcoming and the dealer stopped communicating with her.
According to Jackee Hudson, since the deal fell through in September, she has been relentlessly trying to get back her money but has only received a string of failed promises.
“I don’t want drama or stress in my life. Just give me back my money and go do something with yourself. You have two businesses. Leave poor people who worked hard for their money alone,” said a frustrated Hudson.
The social worker explained that the company, which is reportedly owned by Lennox and Nordene Stephenson, owed her brother $300,000 from a previous transaction. Therefore, she said there was an agreement for her brother to provide the rest to purchase a 2013 Toyota Wish valued at $1.2 million.
She said the dealer contacted her brother on September 12 and informed him that a car at Kingston Wharf that he previously enquired about was available and that $500,000 was needed to clear the vehicle.
The money was paid over the same day after the couple reportedly met her brother at the bank, Hudson said, noting that her brother was to pay the remainder after the car was delivered.
Hudson said she was subsequently informed that the car would be delivered on September 17, but a day later was told that there was a delay with the processing.
“Since the 19th of September to the 1st of October, Lennox has provided excuses after excuses as to the reason the car was not cleared, and we requested a refund of the money and Lennox was provided with the bank details to transfer the money.
“But, since the 1st of October to date, Lennox has lied and provided various excuses about repaying the sum of $500,000,” Hudson said.
The foreigner said the couple, instead of refunding the money, has instead blocked her on all communication platforms since October 24.
“I would like everyone to know not to trust these people and would like my hard-earned money back,” Hudson said.

She said her brother has since reported the matter at the Central Police Station but that the police have been unable to find Stephenson at his business place in Kingston, and has only met with his wife, who has promised that the payment would be made.
Stephenson, when contacted, admitted that he had collected the money but stated that he had clearance issues because of the rain, coupled with a bit of delay as well an increase in duties, and that Hudson grew impatient.
While declaring that he is not aware that the matter was reported or that the police have been trying to find him, Stephenson said he is not hiding and intends to pay over the money by Friday, as he is out of town at his Ocho Rios office.
“Her brother knows my brother, it’s not like I hiding her out. So, what I would be hiding fa $500,000, what is $500,000?
“I call my brother him, say him out of town and him say him coming in Friday, so I just want my brother to meet him up and give back the money,” he said.
Or, in the alternative, the car dealer said, the brother could resend him his bank account number for him to deposit the money.
Responding to Hudson’s statement that she was blocked, Stephenson acknowledged that he did so, claiming, “Yuh see the disrespect with certain things, so that’s why.”
Meanwhile, checks made with the Central Police Station were unable to confirm whether similar reports have been made against this company.
