Rev Fr Louis Hurst (right) greets Chairman and CEO of Lannaman & Morris (Shipping) Limited Harriat (Harry) Maragh at the church service celebrating the company's 45 years of excellence in the business of shipping. The service was held at the Kingston Parish Church on May 28.

Shipping Association of Jamaica member Lannaman and Morris Shipping Limited is celebrating its 45th anniversary with a range of activities to commemorate the company's contributions to the development of shipping in Jamaica. The company is one of the industry's leading logistics, cargo and cruise agents.
Activities began on May 28, 2017, with a thanksgiving service and will continue throughout the week with a series of events geared at celebrating the staff and their families, as well as highlighting the journey of the company from its inception.
Established in 1973, Lannaman and Morris is regarded as one of Jamaica's best known and most widely respected shipping agents. The company represents 70 per cent of all cruise lines visiting Jamaica and 15 per cent of cargo tonnage entering the islandís ports.
The company also manages the Ocho Rios cruise ship terminal on behalf of the Port Authority of Jamaica and the Government. The Ocho Rios cruise ship terminal is ranked in the top 12 cruise terminals in the Western Hemisphere by Lloyds of London, and today is the most profitable and efficient of its kind in Jamaica.
Harry Maragh, chairman and chief executive officer of Lannaman & Morris Shipping since 1997, said the company's success is owed in large part to its strong customer base and excellent team work. "We couldn't have reached this mark without the loyal support of our clients over the years, but more so, this is a marked achievement for the team, our staff members who have dedicated themselves to improving service delivery, upholding our strong values and building the company into one of the best in this part of the world, and for this we say thank you."

COMMERCIAL INTERESTS

Throughout its years of operation, the company has developed into a highly diversified maritime group with a wide range of commercial interests, including port and terminal management, logistics and supply chain management, and international transport and management consultancy.
Additionally, the company is currently the appointed agent for a number of internationally known carriers and major tramp-type operations.
Lannaman & Morris Shipping was established by Vance Lannaman and Ainsley Morris in 1973 before being purchased by Harry Maragh in 1997. Since its inception, the company has represented big names such as Evergreen Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Carnival Cruise Line.
Anniversary activities will conclude on June 3, 2017, with a long service awards function and banquet to honour staff members.
