It was a night to remember as fashion lovers and members of the creative industries gathered outside the Worthington at the Spanish Court Hotel last Thursday in full anticipation of the cadre of local and international designers that were on the line-up for Collection MoDA's 2016 staging.

Stepping into the fashion-filled cocktail area, spectators were dressed in their best, setting the grounds ablaze in well-tailored, super-chic, edgy outfits as they exchanged friendly chatter and prepared to discover the joys of independent fashion.

It was after 8 p.m. that fashionistas made their way into the main runway area and were immediately captured in a fantasy fashion extravaganza as the white decor was accentuated by purple and blue up-lights, bringing a dramatic yet classic element to the venue.

Showtime! The pulsating, versatile dance piece 'Street meets studio' choreographed by Kerry-Ann Henry opened the show and got the audience pumping with anticipation. After, models took to the stage, strutting to their own beat in high fashion collections and men's apparel that had the women at the edge of their seats. The designers included, Carlton Jones, Courtney Washington, Korto Momolu, Lisu Vega, Cesar Galindo and Irina Shabayeva.

Though each designer brought awesome designs and diversity to the table, there were favourites, namely Korto Momolu, who left patrons awestruck by her Liberia-inspired colours and prints and, Irina Shabayeva's sparkling, unique creations that were fun and glowing.

After five years of diversity and creative talents in fashion, Collection MoDA continues to electrify fashion in the Caribbean, showcasing new designers in the industry.

The night continued with fun and drinks as patrons recuperated from the major fashion high the MoDA runway brought.
