ATHLETICS: 100m silver for Williams, Brown at World University Games

 GWANGJU, Korea:
It was a good second day for Jamaica at the 28th Universiade Summer Games in Gwangju, Korea today as the country's athletes mined two silver medals in the 100 metres through the University of Technology duo of Shimarya Williams and Kimmarley Brown.

It was the former Clarendon College standout, Williams, who picked up the first medal for Jamaica finishing second in 11.46 seconds.

Kedisha Dallas out of GC Foster College ran gallantly finishing a close fifth in 11.49 seconds.

Plagued by injury this season, Brown equaled his season best of 10.12 seconds after finishing strongly for second to grab silver in the men's 100 metres finals.

Earlier, Simoya Campbell ran conservatively to finish second in her 800 metres semi-final in 2:03.10 to book a place in tomorrow's final of the Women's event.

There was no luck for Tovea Jenkins in the semi-final of the women's 400 metres as she finish fifth in her Heat on 53.43 seconds and failed to advance to the final.

Fitzroy Dunkley did not report to the start in his 400 metres semi-final as he suffered a slight hamstring strain the previous day after finishing second in his heat.

In early session competition Danielle Williams won her heat of the women's 100 metres hurdles in 13.09 seconds, making her the fastest qualifier for tomorrow's final.
