Jamaican athletes should brace for more drug testing at World Champs - Wright

Former Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCo) board member, Dr Paul Wright says Jamaica’s athletes should brace themselves for more drug testing at the IAAF at the World Championships.

He is also reminding Jamaica’s athletes that they should be very careful about what they consume and whenever they are in doubt, they should always seek advice from the Jamaican medical staff.

At the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, Russia seven athletes tested positive.

However, Wright says he is not expecting a great deal of doping violations at this month’s World Champs in Beijing.

According to Wright, athletes competing at championships know well in advance the dates of the competition and when a drug test is imminent.

Jamaica's 53 athletes are now in Beijing ahead of the championships, which begins on Saturday.

The team will be captained by former 100 metres record holder Asafa Powell and former world 100 metres champion Veronica Campbell Brown.
