DIAMOND LEAGUE: Calvert-Powell remains positive after missing out on final in Birmingham
Alexander Stadium, BIRMINGHAM: Schillonie Calvert-Powell failed to qualify for the final of the 100m at the Diamond League in Birmingham.
She came 7th in her heat in 11.23seconds.
She said: “My season has been excellent. I have to give thanks to God because despite my injury setbacks I had a personal best indoors and outdoors. I had a setback with a hamstring injury after I had a PB in the 100m. I must say I can’t really complain because I saw so blessed for this season.”
Calvert-Powell, who was one of the Jamaican quartet that took silver in the 4x 100m at the London 2012 Olympics, added: “Hopefully for next season I can just roll over everything into it.”
When asked what the plans were for next season, she said: “I have to take it one step at a time. I am now in the United States so I am trying to see how well I can do indoors and move it outdoors. Hopefully my plan is to be back here (Birmingham) to do the World Indoors next year.”
