Shericka Jackson took the silver medal in the women's 200m as Elaine Thompson struggled into fourth place at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia on Thursday.

Bahamian Shaunae Miller-Uibo set a Games record 22.09 seconds to hold off Jackson, who clocked a personal best of 22.18 seconds, with England's Dina Asher-Smith, who got the bronze medal in 22.29 seconds.

Thompson, the reigning Olympic champion in the 100m and 200m, never seemed herself throughout the championships and could not find the speed to threaten, crossing the line in 22.30 seconds, with Sashalee Forbes crossed the line in fifth place in what would have been recorded as a personal best of 22.59 seconds, but she was later disqualified.
