Generation on a high in Top Notch Summer League

Generation United maintained their unbeaten run in the Top Notch Blocks Summer Football League after defeating United Hearts 3-1 in the featured match at the Sunset Football field in Manchester last weekend.

Generation made it three wins in as many games this season with first-half strikes from Christopher Dunn and Londe 'Bomber' Francis. The league's top scorer Alden 'Messi' Rattray converted from the penalty spot to add one more to his season's tally.

In the curtain raiser, Providence recorded their first win of the season by silencing the Knock Patrick Deaf School 1-0, Pro Hardware and Fresh Start ended 2-2, while United All Stars were 1-0 winners over All Star Strikers.

The league continues tomorrow with Zone 1 leaders Generation United taking on second place Galaxy FC. Both are unbeaten.

Also on the day, Fresh Start United will tackle Madrid United, Contrivance oppose Central United, while Albion United will battle Belair Boys.

Manchester Under-15 round-up

Starz Academy will meet Comfort in the finals of the Manchester Football Association's Under-15 League.

In the semi-finals played at Brooks Park in Mandeville, Starz Academy came from behind to defeat Villa United while Comfort had a 1-0 win over Alligator Pond.

Villa United surprised all by taking an early first-half lead when Othneil Reid scored in the ninth minute of play. The game would stay at 1-0 at half-time before the leaders of the preliminary round asserted themselves. First, Jevon Shuriah found the equaliser in the 48th minute before Ravee Campbell got what turned out to be the game clincher in the 56th.

In the second semi-final, Dominique Reid's 56th minute goal sealed Comfort's passage to their first junior final.

Greenvale win Pat Anderson U-17

Previous winners Greenvale prevailed 2-1 over first time finalists Starz Academy to cop the 2018 Moorland Development-sponsored Pat Anderson Under-17 Championship in Manchester.

The game was hosted at Brooks Park and the organisers took time out to pay tribute to the competition's former patron,Pat Anderson, who passed on in April.

Action throughout was very spirited with the Andrew Smith-coached Greenvale asserting themselves with a halftime score of 2-0. Goals were provided from the boots of Zxyon Hendricks and Livingston Walker.

On resumption, Starz came out fighting and found some motivation through AndrÈ Dove's goal but Greenvale's first-half damage proved victorious.

Clarendon Juici Patties Senior, Junior Netball League round-up

Second round play in the Juici Patties-sponsored Clarendon Senior and Junior Netball Leagues continued last week Sunday at the Mineral Heights Round-a-bout Sports Complex with several teams bouncing back from defeat.

In the Junior League, Portland Cottage who lost 35-19 to Hayes All Stars, found it easy against Denbigh C 19-5, while Toll Gate rebounded from their 26-11 loss the previous week to Central High A, to defeat Glenmuir B 29-15.

The biggest win of the day came when Hayes Super Stars whipped the young Central High B team 56-3 and Blackwoods continued their unbeaten run smashing Longville Park 33-19.

There were only two matches in the senior division. Defending champions Jamalco suffered a rare defeat going down 44-50 to new entrants Cavalier. The other game saw Team R of Mandeville outscoring the Denbigh High A team 55-43.

Action continues tomorrow at the same venue starting 1:30 p.m.

Manchester Under-13 under way

Even without a title sponsor, a new season of the Manchester Football Association's Under-13 championship kicked off last weekend at the Kirkvine Sports Complex. There was a short opening ceremony followed by five matches. DC Strikers were the top team on the day winning their two matches.

They opened the league with a 2-1 win over New Green before smashing Comfort 4-1. In the later win, two goals came from Chevaun Williams with one each from Dimitri Johnson and Jevaugh Davis who had also scored in the earlier win against New Green.

Starz Academy also returned creditable results netting four points from their two games. They opened with a 1-1 draw against Alligator Pond before edging Comfort 2-1. Their hero on the day was Malik Davis who scored all their goals to be the early leading goal scorer. The day also saw New Green rebounding from DC Strikers to outscore Alligator Pond 3-2. A feature of the game was their striker Travis Lloyd netting two goals.

Juici Patties South Central Junior league kick off

The South Central Confed League, which celebrated a whopping 31 years of sponsorship from Juici Patties, commences today at the Juici Patties Complex at Clarendon Park.

An opening ceremony which features lunch for all the youngsters and the presence of the Jamaica Football Federation President Mike Ricketts, will take place at 1 p.m.

The opening ceremony will be preceded by the playing of two Under-13 games. Clarendon will oppose Manchester at 10 a.m. before St Elizabeth face perennial winners St Catherine.

The Under-15 games will be played after the opening ceremony. Clarendon will again kick off the competition against Manchester before St Elizabeth face St Catherine.
