National striker Khadija Shaw scored the consolation goal in Bordeaux’s 2-1 defeat to EA Guingamp in the Division 1 Féminine in France yesterday. It was her fifth goal so far this season in the French Women’s Division.

She recently scored her 40th international goal in a Concacaf Caribbean women’s Olympic qualifying match against the US Virgin Islands, which saw her eclipsing former Reggae Boy Luton Shelton as Jamaica’s all-time leading goalscorer of either gender. The strike came in the 17th minute of play but was not enough for Bordeaux to secure all three points after Guingamp mounted a comeback in rapid succession with goals in the 62nd and 65th minutes through Alison Peniguel and Louise Fleury, respectively.

The loss sees Bordeaux slipping down to fourth in the league, a point behind Montpellier, who climbed to third after playing out a 1-1 scoreline against Soyaux FC.

Shaw has been on a good run of form recently, with a brace against FC Fleury 91 and Dijon FCO in the league’s first two fixtures. She also became the youngest female player in the Concacaf region to score 40 goals, at age 22.
