Vere United have spent the entire Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) season at the bottom of the standing and coach Andrew Isaac said they are looking to add an experienced centre back, midfielder and striker in January to boost their chance of survival.

They were outclassed in their 3-1 defeat to Portmore United at the Spanish Town Prison Oval on Sunday, but despite winning just two games from 19 matches this season, Issac said all is not lost, as he is convinced that with some quality additions in January, they can turn around their season.

“It was really poor from our guys, so we have to go back to the drawing board and try to improve. Our midfield has let us down all season, so we need to work on that or get two players in the transfer window,” Isaac said.

“In January we are going to need a forward, a goalscorer. We really need a goalscorer in this team, because we have been creating a lot of chances but we have been missing them. We got three clear chances (against Portmore) and only scored one. Also in the midfield, we need a quality midfielder and also an experienced centre back to strengthen our team,” he added.

However, he believes that if they can find the right players to fit in and gel with the current group, they can improve their performances and results in the second-half of the season.

“We still have a chance, so there is no down-heart for us. We just need to go back to the drawing board and come back again,” Isaac stated.

Vere United sit at the bottom of the RSPL with 14 points from 19 matches. The Clarendon-based team has just registered two wins all season, with eight draws.

Those two wins and seven of their eight draws came at home, while they have been able to take just one point from their road games.
