Dick Cardenas jockeys EXHILARATED to victory in the fifth race at Caymanas Park on Saturday, November 24, 2018.

Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Chairman Solomon Sharpe says he is expecting Panamanian jockey Dick Cardenas to have a strong return at Caymanas Park tomorrow.

Cardenas, who last rode in Jamaica last season, was a runner-up to Anthony Thomas in the Jockeys’ Championships in the 2018 season. Thomas, who was winning his first jockey’s title, recorded 96 winners to Cardenas’ 95 to lift the championships.

“He has some live rides on Saturday and so it should be a very interesting day,” Sharpe said. “It is also good to see our former champion jockeys and our former stars riding at the park.

“Dick Cardenas coming back will add a lot of favour because he has ridden the likes of MARK MY WORD to Triple Crown and Superstakes wins, and he is a fan favourite.”

Sharpe said that Cardenas has proven to be a top-class jockey over the years. so younger riders will learn from him during the races.

“He is very light, so he can ride from 46 kilos right up to 57 kilos, so he should get some interesting rides, and it should make the race meets become very interesting going forward,” he said.
