Burrowes shows class at Heroes Classic

With the absence of National champion William Knibbs, Justin Burrowes got back to winning ways as he claimed the title at the two-day Jamaica Golf Association Heroes Weekend Classic at the Constant Spring Golf Club in St Andrew yesterday.

Burrowes followed up his two-under-par 68 on Saturday with a one-under-par 69 on Sunday to claim the top spot in the Men’s zero to six category with an overall three-under-par 137.

The right-hander had two birdies on the front nine and just one blemish after making the turn to finish 10 strokes better than second-placed Sean Morris, who shot a four-over-par 74 on day two to finish with a two-day total of 147.

“Today was pretty good again, and I played solid for the most part,” Burrowes said. “I was really steady, and I kept it in play to follow up yesterday’s solid round,” said Burrowes.

Mark Newnham rounded out the top three with his four over par round of 74 for a two-day total of 155.

Phillip Gooden, with a two-day total of 158, got the better of Metry Seaga (174) in the Men’s 7-12 category while Guyan Arscott claimed the top spot in the Men’s zero to 12 Super Seniors category with a two-day total of 162. The lone female, Jodi Munn-Barrow, shot identical rounds of 74 for a total of 148.

Sebastian Azan won the boys 14-15 section while Ryan Lue claimed the 11-13 category. The girls 11-13 category went to Samantha Azan.
