Justin Burrowes has moved up 24 places on the World Amateur Golf Ranking which was released recently.

After his second-place finish at the National Amateur Championship in July, Burrowes is now ranked 1,042 among the 6881 men’s amateur golfers worldwide.

Burrowes, who had two wins and four top-10 finishes in the last 12 events, has 619.96 average points which enabled him to move up from his 1,066th place in the ranking.

For Burrowes, the move was a surprise, but he is happy that his consistent play in tournaments is bearing fruit.

“I had no idea that I moved up 24 places in the rankings, but it definitely feels great and I am happy about it, and I am really looking forward to the rest of the year,” Burrowes said. “As far as the Jamaica Open goes, I am looking to execute, because there has been a lot of hard work that I have put in and hopefully it will pay off.”

Burrowes’ national teammates William Knibbs and Sean Morris saw their rankings fall as National Champion Knibbs fell 40 spots to 2,335, despite two tournaments wins and four top-10 finishes.

Morris fell one spot to 4,431.

Chun An Yu of Chinese Taipei replaces American Davis Thompson as the number one amateur in the world by improving two positions. Yu has had a number of top-10 finishes since winning the 2019 ASU Thunderbird Invitational, including placing fifth among the professionals in the Emirates Australian Open. Thompson drops to second.

On the women’s side, Diane Lang is ranked at 2,239 after three top-10 finishes. American Rose Zhang is the number one ranked female amateur.

The men’s and women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking system rates the top amateur golfers based on their average performance in counting events over a rolling cycle of the previous 104 weeks.
