DUNBEHOLDEN COACH Harold Thomas says his team will be looking to extend its six-match winning streak when it faces Waterhouse in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) top-of-the-table clash at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex this evening at 5:15 p.m.

The game will be the second of a double-header with Portmore United entertaining Cavalier at 3 p.m.

Dunbeholden have won their last six games, and the last four by 1-0 victories, and Thomas wants to continue.

“We want to continue winning and get into the play-offs. That is forefront in our minds. We have a couple injuries but we are working well, the morale is high and we know what to expect from Waterhouse,” said Thomas.

“Every game, we try to win and it is difficult to try and play for anything else in my book. But I am sure the other team will be looking to win as well, but we are confident,” he said.

Dunbeholden lead the table with 31 points, two more than Waterhouse, and a draw would leave them still in pole position but, whatever the result, Thomas expects a tough encounter.

“We might be able to bring out something in them and they might be able to bring out something in us, but we are hoping for what could be a bright spot,” he said.

The St Catherine team have looked to players such as the league’s leading goalscorer, Ataphoroy Bygrave, striker partner Peter McGregor, Nicoy Christian and Shaquille Dyer, to lead the way, and they will carry the bulk of the team’s hopes this afternoon as well.

Waterhouse remains only one of two teams to have defeated Dunbeholden this season, and assistant coach Daniel Bent expects them to come hunting for revenge.

“We have a quality team that can destroy on any given day, and we will go out and do our best and do the right things, and we will definitely get the three points.

“It will be a tough game. In the first round, we defeated them 4-1. So we know they will be coming. They say revenge is a dish best served cold but we are definitely up for the task, we are prepared and looking forward to it,” said Bent.

The Drewsland club lost striker Andre Fletcher and midfielder Chevon Stewart in the transfer window but, according to Bent, the squad is deep with players looking to step into the breach.

“We lost Fletcher and Stewart to Mount Pleasant but we still have quality. The depth and quality this team has is sometimes mind-boggling, and sometimes we have nightmares picking the team, but that is a good thing and we are okay,” he said.

In other games Sunday, Harbour View face Tivoli at the UWI-JFF Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence and Mount Pleasant take on Vere at Drax Hall. Both games begin at 3 p.m.
