DANIELLE NOBLE says her execution was the factor which led to her capturing the first gold medal of her career for Jamaica at the Carifta Games at the National Stadium yesterday.

The 14-year-old Noble won the girls’ under-17 high jump with a new personal best mark of 1.73 metres.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Tenique Vincent was second with a mark of 1.65m while third went to Jah’kyla Morton of the British Virgin Islands in 1.60m.

Noble was especially proud of her performance because of the hard work she had put into getting to this point.

The Wolmer’s Girls’ student went on to voice the determination she had in winning gold for Jamaica in the event.

“I am feeling very excited and just happy that I was able to achieve my goal, which was just to do my best,” said Noble.

WONDERFUL EXECUTION

“I think that my execution was wonderful because my technique was spot on throughout the competition,” she said.

Noble pointed out that she was a little tense before the start of the competition, but with the help of her coach, she was able to hold her nerve.

“I was feeling a little bit nervous going into the competition and so I had to stay calm because I wanted to do this for my father as he was in the stands watching me competing, and also for my coach,” she said.

Noble also said the gold medal was a massive boost for her confidence, because it came against some of the top jumpers in the Caribbean.

“I think that this will be good for me, knowing that I competed and came first with a gold medal,” she said.

“I know that my schoolmates at Wolmer’s will be happy for me, to know that I have won the gold medal at Carifta,” she said.

“I just want to thank everyone for their support, and so I want to continue winning gold and making everyone proud,” Noble said.

Noble won a silver medal in the girls Class Three high jump at the recently held ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships.
