THERE IS nothing more beautiful, or a smile that shines brighter than when a mother is smiling because of the love for her child.

Jayden Seales’ mom, Ann Marie, was beaming in the stands as her son claimed his first fifer in First Class cricket, finishing with 5/49 in the Red Force’s third-round clash of the West Indies Championship against the Leeward Islands.

“I’m very proud of him, he’s worked very hard, so he deserves all that he gets. I don’t know how to [express] how I feel seeing him play at the highest level for the West Indies,” said Ann Marie Seales.

As the parent of an athlete, Mrs Seales encouraged other parents to support their children’s sporting endeavours.

“Support is the biggest thing. When a child knows that their parents are there for them, it pushes them an extra mile.”

IMPORTANCE OF BEING THERE

Another more famous athlete-mom had the same sentiments just recently, with Jennifer Bolt talking about her journey with a young Usain and the importance of being there.

“I would encourage others to help their child along the way. Whatever they want to do, you will have to encourage them,” said Bolt’s mom.

“Sometimes they (the parents) might think it is easy, but to get them to a professional level is not an easy task, so you would have to work with that child, encourage them and give your moral support,” she said.
