Jordon Reign’s wins again
JORDON REIGN’S reigned for a fourth consecutive race at Caymanas Park yesterday, scoring a two-length win over fellow American EROY in the She’s A Maneater Trophy at a mile.
Unbeaten since scoring a 7-1 upset at six and a half furlongs on June 18, the imported four-year-old gelding’s job was made easier by a slow opening quarter of 24.4 after Jason DaCosta’s speedy SHE’S MY DESTINY missed the break and encountered traffic problems.
RUNAWAY ALGO, the expected leader, disputed the first three and a half furlongs with I AM FRED, before a lurking JORDON REIGN’S tugged Dane Dawkins to the front.
Even-money favourite
Passing the half-mile marker on his bridle in 46.4, even-money favourite JORDON REIGN’S was almost unbothered by SHE’S MY DESTINY’s feeble attempt to unsettle him approaching the three pole.
Motionless spinning into the lane, leading rider Dawkins asked JORDON REIGN’S to run a furlong and a half out, leaving the field in his wake.
EROY weaved his way through the pack to finish two lengths behind the comfortable winner, who stopped the clock in 1:39.1, confirming his status as a top grade-one campaigner.
Dawkins opened a six-win lead over Anthony Thomas, bagging two winners on the nine-race card, earlier landing Parsard’s 6-1 chance, DODGE THIS LINK, in the sixth event at six and a half furlongs.
Stinging outsiders, Ryan Darby’s FYFFE’S PEN LIZ at 37-1, and Gary Subratie’s 86-1 dagger in the night pan, GREAT TRICK, resulted in a $4m payout on the Twilight 6.
This afternoon’s Reggae 6 mandatory payout will open at $8m, with first post set for noon.
