Jhaniele Fowler
The Sunshine Girls captain had a stellar 2022, individually and collectively, for both club and country.
Fowler was named The Suncorp Super Netball League’s Player of the Year for the fifth consecutive year at the Australian Netball Awards, after a season where she scored 929 goals for her Australian club West Coast Fever, a season record. Fowler was instrumental in the Fever winning their first-ever title in their third appearance in the grand final last July with a 97 per cent shooting accuracy, as well as collecting 55 rebounds. She was also named in the 2022 Suncorp Super Netball Team of the Season.
Fowler’s summer would only get better, as she led Jamaica to their highest-ever finish in the Commonwealth Games last August, claiming a silver medal at the tournament. Their campaign included a landmark win over Australia in pool play, the first time in tournament history that the Sunshine Girls defeated the world number-one ranked team. She was the tournament’s top scorer with 273 goals, with a 97 per cent shooting accuracy.
