Harbour View climbed to fourth in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) table after a 1-0 victory over struggling Montego Bay United at the Ashenheim Stadium, Jamaica College, yesterday.

The three points pushed the defending champions to 19 points, three points adrift of leaders Cavalier.

Harbour View's head coach, Ludlow Bernard, said they are looking to regain their early season momentum.

"It is my first win of the year. I am really thankful for it. I am thankful for the effort the players put in today," he said.

He pointed out that although Montego Bay made it difficult, hewas happy with how his players handled the challenge.

"It was a game of two halves, and we were able to overcome whatever problem Montego Bay posed for us," he said.

"In the first half we dominated and created quite a bit. I was pleased with the tactical approach. We made some efforts on the counter and got some good chances."

Both teams had good chances in the opening 20 minutes, but Harbour View looked the hungrier of the two in a high-intensity affair. Harbour View eventually broke Montego Bay's resistance in the 22nd minute.

Ajeani Talbot controlled the ball on top of the area and drove a low shot into the far corner past Davonnie Burton in goal.

Harbour View continued to have the better of the teams, but Montego Bay stayed solid on the back, and Allan Ottey put a header wide.

Ottey also had the best chance to level the score in the 65th minute, but he put his effort just wide of the mark.

Shawn Daley should have made it a more comfortable win for Harbour View, but he dragged his shot wide from eight yards.

Montego Bay coach Donovan Duckie was pleased with his team's effort despite the loss.

"I thought we played well. The first ten minutes were crucial for us. We had chances, but indecision in the box went against us," he said.

Montego Bay remain in eighth position on the table with 15.
