St Jago's Kimeka Smith took the Class Two girls’ shot put title at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships (Champs) at the National Stadium this afternoon.

Smith delivered on her final attempt with an effort of 15.82 metres to edge Hydel's Nastassia Burrell with 15.55. Able Mills of St Catherine High was third in 15.27.

Burrell had the lead from her second throw of 15.49 metres, but Smith took control in the fifth round with an effort of 15.51. Burrell retook the lead with a final attempt of 15.55 before Smith's final round.
