Oblique Seville leads names to Miramar Invitational
TWENTY-SIX JAMAICAN athletes, led by World Championships 100-metre finalist Oblique Seville, will invade the Ansin Sports Complex in Florida this Saturday to compete in the Miramar Invitational Meet.
Seville, with a personal best of 9.86 seconds in the 100 metres, will be one of six Jamaicans down to contest the event.
The vastly improved Ackeem Blake, Michael Campbell, Raheem Chambers, Andrew Hudson and Oshane Bailey are the other Jamaicans down for action here.
Ronnie Baker will be the United States’ highest-profile athlete in the event.
World Championships 200-metre gold medallist Shericka Jackson will continue her preparation by competing in the Women’s 400 metres where she has a season’s best of 50.92 seconds. Stephenie-Ann McPherson, Janieve Russell and Charokee Young will join her in the event where the United States’ Shamier Little is also down to compete.
Jonielle Smith, Natasha Morrison, Shokaria Wallace and Kashieka Cameron will line up in the women’s 100 metres where they will come up against the likes of Sha’Carri Richardson and Melissa Jefferson of the United States.
Orlando Bennett and Damion Thomas are set to compete in the 110-metre hurdles, while Tajay Gayle will make an appearance in the long jump pit.
