Jamaica’s Jaydon Hibbert soars through the air on his way to qualifying for the men’s triple jump final at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, today.

Jaydon Hibbert is proving to be a handful at the World Championships as his second leap of 17.70 metres leads all qualifiers into the final of the men’s triple jump.

Hibbert was in a no-nonsense mood in Group B and opened the event with a leap of 16.99 metres and followed that up with 17.70 on his second attempt to set tongues wagging ahead of the final.

Cuba’s Lazaro Martinez also qualified after finishing second following his attempt of 17.12 metres.

The third-best effort came from Yasser Triki of Algeria, who leapt 16.95 to qualify.

Others moving on to the final are Emmanuel Ihemeje of Italy (16.91), Yaoqing Fang of China (16.83), Tiago Pereira of Portugal (16.77), Will Claye of the USA (16.72) and Leodan Torrealba of Venezuela (16.72).

Also into the final from Group A are China’s Yaming Zhu (17.14), Hugues Zango of Burkina Faso (17.12), Christian Napoles of Cuba (16.95) and Chris Bernard of the USA (16.71).
