Holmwood High School’s Jada Ricketts looks to pass during a Rural ISSA Schoolgirl Netball game against Manchester High School at the GC Foster College on Monday.

ATTENTION IN the Rural Schoolgirl Netball competition will be focused on GC Foster College netball courts today with junior and senior teams vying for spots in next Tuesday’s semifinals at Manchester High School.

The juniors take to the courts first this morning with defending champions Holmwood Technical taking on Dinthill Technical and Glenmuir High battling St Elizabeth Technical High School at 9:30.

The two other junior matches will see Denbigh High going up against Hampton High at 10:30 and Manchester High playing Charlemont at 12:30 p.m.

The unbeaten Holmwood, who are also All-Island defending champions, Denbigh, and Glenmuir all look set to advance.

Led by goal attack Nickeisha Powell and goal defence Fentonian Henry, the Ryan Reid-coached Glenmuir will take the court at 10:30 against Mile Gully. The Carline Graham-Powell coached 12-time champions, Holmwood, are on a mission this season after failing to advance to the final last year.

They have been merciless on their opponents all season, scoring lopsided victories, including a walloping 76-13 win over Manchester High on Monday in their final second-round match to avenge last year’s second-round defeat.

Holmwood will take on Morant Bay at 11:30 a.m., led by national under-21 squad members, goal shooter Jaden Swaby, goal attack Jada Ricketts, and wing attack Shaqwan Hamilton.

Former champions, Denbigh are up against Manchester High when both teams meet at 11:30.

In the other match on the day, a close affair is expected between May Day and Titchfield at 12:30 p.m.
