KINGSTON COLLEGE (KC) head coach Vassell Reynolds said it was back to business as usual after his team came out comfortable 5-0 winners against Campion College in ISSA Manning Cup action yesterday.

KC had little worries throughout the contest as goals from Matrim Martin, Kamaul Patterson, Kajay Fletcher, and Shareef Ricketts secured all three points for the visitors.

Reynolds said the match was a game of two halves as KC were aggressive in the first 45 minutes before focusing on game management throughout the second half.

“I’m pleased with the performance. I think we really dominated the first half. We really came into our own and got three goals in the first half,” he said.

“For the second half, it took us a while to settle but, after 20 minutes, we really settled again and asked Campion to chase the ball.”

Campion’s chances were few but those they carved out were wasted, a missed penalty epitomising the afternoon they were having.

KC, however, had no such problems, with Martin opening the scoring when he slipped through the defence to finish with ease in the 18th minute.

They would double their lead minutes later when Patterson volleyed home after a poor clearance from the Campionite defence.

Martin would make it three with a brilliant show of attacking instincts, ghosting past his marker to finish ahead of the onrushing goalkeeper.

Campion would grow into the game in the second half but provided little threat to Malique Williams in the KC goal.

Campion’s head coach Newton Sterling sai a lack of confidence in front of goal hurt his team.

“We got a lot more chances in the second half, to be honest. It’s just lack of concentration and not being confident in ourselves and in what we are doing, as, with confidence, anything is possible. So we just need to work on that and come again,” Sterling explained.

“The scoreline does not reflect the game at all, as you can see. Regards to our chances, we got a penalty within the first five to 10 minutes of the game. We missed that and, from there, the guys held down their heads. We tried to get them motivated, to lift the heads back up, but we just didn’t do that.”

KC completed the rout in the dying moments of the game, with Fletcher and Ricketts scoring in time added.

The win sees KC move clear atop Zone C with 10 points while Campion sit third in the zone with seven.
