Alzarri makes return, Springer replaces Russell for final three T20Is
ST JOHN’S, Antigua (CMC):
ALZARRI JOSEPH has made his return to the West Indies’ T20 squad for the three remaining T20 Internationals against England, following his two-game suspension.
Joseph is one of two changes to the West Indies’ 15-man squad, with Barbadian all-rounder Shamar Springer replacing Andre Russell, who has been ruled out of the series after suffering an ankle injury in the first T20 on Saturday.
The 27-year-old Joseph was handed a two-game suspension by Cricket West Indies (CWI), following his behaviour in the third and final One-Day International against England last Wednesday.
His return will be welcomed, as the West Indies’ bowlers have been unable to contain England’s batsmen, leading to the visitors holding a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.
The 26-year-old Springer made his T20I debut during the recently concluded tour of Sri Lanka where he featured in two matches.
The third T20I will be played at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in St Lucia on Thursday.
