Negril readies for the Great Escape

The sixth staging of The Great Escape Weekend in Negril is set to get under way in Negril this Easter.

The events will run from Good Friday through to Easter Monday and will comprise of five parties, the first of which is the Black and Black, an all-black theme party which will showcase the best local DJs at the Negril Escape Resort and Spa on Negril's West End.

On Saturday, there will be Liquid Fusion, a blue themed high energy party which will be staged at Bambooze, while Sunday will feature two events Escape J'Ouvert meets Soakin Wett at Cayenne Beach. The final event will take place on Monday with the All White Wet Dreams party, which will be staged at The Jungle Nightclub.

All events will feature VIP component with drinks and hors d'ouvres included.

The Great Escape Weekend was conceptualised by a group of Negril-based promoters who decided to pool resources to establish Negril's first weekend party series instead of directly competing with each other.

The group is comprised of Sean Greenfield of Seashli Entertainment; Carson McGregor and Alesia Scott of AEG Entertainment; Stephen Williams of Black N Black Entertainment; Neikesha Kozer of Bambooze Negril; Sudiki Nelson of Blackgold Entertainment; and Denzel Scott of Double Take Promotions.

"The Great Escape Weekend premiered March 2012 and has grown significantly over the last five years, with last year's staging being the most successful to date in terms of patron turnout and gate proceeds. The weekend saw patrons coming from all over Jamaica USA, Canada and Europe," spokeswoman Neikesha Kozer of Bambooze Negril said.

"The Great Escape Weekend is Negril's official Easter weekend and promises to be a weekend of revelry, great music, good vibes. It has finally cemented its place among partygoers in around the Negril area and

islandwide for the Easter and saw over 9,000 patrons attending last year. It is widely supported and promoted by the Negril community as it's a local event organised and executed by local promoters promoting and enhancing brand Negril," she added.
