A system in trouble
The Editor, Sir:
The Government continues to stress the importance of education, yet school administrators make the education system a nightmare.
My experience with the only technical high school in my parish is not peculiar to what happens in schools. I paid to resit a subject for January 2010, only to realise, when I went back to the school to collect the timetable, that the entry form that I had signed and returned to the school on September 25, 2009, was not sent to the CXC office and the document could not be found.
The principal at the school handled the situation in a poor manner. He and other staff members were very uncouth, disrespectful and uncaring. I, too, work in the government system and am very disgruntled at how ordinary Jamaicans are treated. This is a clear indication that Jamaica's education system is in trouble.
I am, etc.,
