No secret to success

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I, too, would like to say congratulation to our police force with regards to their recent success in the guns and ammunition find.
Let me say also that I am sure all this was not happening without notice. My crayfish brain knows there is no secret in my country. People chat and they must have been talking about this gun running for a long time.The next thing I know is that our leaders only clamp down on things that will give them some clout or status.
The truth is there is no secret in Jamaica as to who are the true criminals. They do not hide their bounty. It can be seen by their big houses and fancy cars and big bashment parties every day. How can a policeman or a politician live the life of luxury they do on the salary they earn?
Luxury life
How can a young man or woman who never works, pays any tax to government, live a life of luxury and wealth in a small country like ours without being noticed?
If our Government really wanted to reduce gun crime in this country, with all the money that has been spent over the years, it could have easily done so. Martin Luther King in his dream speech said blacks in America were given a bad cheque. We, here in Jamaica, have been given bad medicine by our political leaders and this is why our ailment is getting worse over the years.
