Thanks for celebrating Cheese Month!

Talk of cheese dominated the month of September as thousands of Jamaicans celebrated Cheese Month. The month began with a bang as Dairy Industries hosted Jamaica's first cheese fair - a day that was filled with entertainment, fun and a variety of cheeses for the entire family.

There were other activities including in-store promotions, radio giveaways, the launch of the Tastee Cheese Back-to-School Scholarship, and the return of the popular Say Cheese Road Festivals.

The Tastee Cheese mascot, Mr Wedge, was unveiled and he will also be making appearances at primary schools around the island for the rest of the year to help promote the goodness of cheese.

But it was the Say Cheese Road Festivals that had people of all ages saying 'cheese'. The Big Cheese Truck hit the road on September 11, with stops in Annotto Bay, Buff Bay, Port Antonio and Port Maria. On September 18, it entered Spanish Town, Old Harbour, May Pen, Mandeville and Santa Cruz.

Huge crowds gathered at the Hi-Lo Supermarket in Port Maria and an open lot in Santa Cruz for two stage shows with performances by Christopher Martin, Card Unit from 'Dancin' Dynamites' and Mr Wedge.

At the roadshows, Jenny-Jenny Small did an outstanding job of getting the audience to participate to win spot prizes, and enjoy sampling and cheese giveaways.

Nadine Roberts, marketing manager of Dairy Industries, said the month's activities were a big success and thanked Jamaicans for their support. "It was an unbelievable journey for the month and my team is already thinking of ways to make next year's event bigger and better."
