Renorene Graham, operator of the Little Feet Early Childhood Development Centre in Spanish Town, has lauded the St Catherine Cooperative Credit Union for enhancing school safety.

Graham said the the pedestrian crossing in the vicinity of the school, which was recently painted by members of the credit union, has been working wonders.

"The children can now cross the road with more assurance. The motorists used this stretch of road as a race track. The new markings will help greatly," said Graham.

Vinette Smith-Myers of the credit union said the painting of the pedestrian crossing was part of the orginasation's outreach programme.

Smith-Myers said the aim of the exercise was to give back to the communities in which the credit union operates.

"I like the pedestrian crossing as it will help me to cross the road better," said eight-year-old Amanda Thomas, while helping to paint the crossing.

There are 84 registered students at the school which also has an active after-school programme.
