The succulent whirlwind that is created in the mouth with every bite of each meal at Pimentos in Montego Bay, is encapsulated by the use of the renowned Jamaican spice, pimento, to make each dish special.

No effort is necessary to taste every authentic Jamaican spice in their signature jerked lobster, that is marinated in a special spicy sauce which handcuffs the tastebuds to surrender to its lusciously soft introduction to the mouth.

According to co-owner Stephen Dear, such texture of the lobster is achieved through a quick blanch in boiling water, with their secret sauce and then place on the grill to be perfectly jerked at the appropriate temperature.

Unique and delectable meals

The establishment, which has been opened for the past four months on the outskirts of the tourism capital, has been consistently receiving rave reviews from diners for the unique and delectable meals that they offer.

Not only are they already famous for their jerked lobster, but the jerked pork sausage gives customers a renewed appreciation for how one of Jamaica's favourite meats is prepared and presented.

Specially seasoned, the pork melts on the tastebuds without effort and keeps the palate guessing what other flavours will be experienced next, before the meal has disappeared from the custom-designed wooden platter.

Although their primary business features jerked seafood, poultry and meats, vegetarians are not omitted from the restaurant's menu.

Their broad bean hummus with jerk sauce and roasted eggplant with tomatoes, served with roasted sweet potatoes, grilled buttery bread and raw vegetables, oozes with flavours that generate goose pimples as it is ingested.

According to Dear, "everything that we do here is keenly done to ensure that customers' experience is beyond what they would expect if they visited another jerk-inspired restaurant. All our spices are fresh Jamaican spices and vegetables and none of our food contains MSG."

What is noteworthy about Pimentos, is that all take-out containers are biodegradable, something the restaurateur said "is intentional as we want to ensure that all facets of our operation are in keeping with preserving the environment".
