Last Sunday's Mandeville Jamaica Motor Show was the second of an all-island motor show series which started at the Police Officers' Club in St Andrew in January.
On display were cars from Mandeville-based used-car dealers, including D&M Auto Zone, Street Image Auto Zone, F&R Motor Sales and CarMax Jamaica Limited.
There was a wide range of cars and SUVs from Toyota, Honda, BMW and Mercedes-Benz brands. The event was sponsored by Scotiabank, which offered financing for cars on display.
Michelle Evans, manager of marketing programmes at Scotiabank, and her team, were busy throughout the day giving financing advice to potential customers.
"We supported the new-car dealers and we are giving support to used-car dealers as well, not only at this show but other companies from Mandeville and surrounding areas as well," Evans said.
"We have a 13.5 per cent special and we presently have a $5,000 cash-for-gas promotion, where if you get a car loan from us we give you an additional start in purchasing gas, which is so expensive these days," she said.
RBC Royal Bank, led by Chad Allen, Mandeville branch manager, was also on location offering financing on cars.
"We have very competitive rates of 12.5 per cent to 14.95 per cent on used cars. The age of the vehicle has a lot to do with how long we give for repayment," Allen explained.
