Rainforest hosts seafood fest

Vendors from Hellshire to Middle Quarters to Port Royal are booked to hold seafood court at the inaugural Rainforest Seafood Festival in Montego Bay this Ash Wednesday, February 13.
The biggest philanthropic undertaking for the Caribbean's largest suppliers of fish and seafood, Max Jardim, project manager at the organisation, says he wants to reel in $5 million for the 'We Care for Cornwall' charity.
We Care is a non-profit, charitable organisation dedicated to remedying the Cornwall Regional Hospital's dire need for additional manpower, basic health-care equipment, and infrastructural upgrades.

The event is being held on the eve of Valentine's Day and the start of Lent at the popular Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre in Montego Bay. Lent, the 40 weekdays from Ash Wednesday to Easter, is observed by the Roman Catholic and some Protestant churches as a period of penitence and fasting.
"This festival, and indeed all our business practices, embodies the motto 'Eat good, do good'," says Brian Jardim, managing director of the organisation.
Known for carrying over 400 references of fish and assorted shellfish, Rainforest Seafoods will have no difficulty delivering on its promise to patrons that the event will showcase the best seafood and entertainment that Jamaica has to offer.

In fact, the younger Jardim states that he expects to attract crowds in the thousands who will be able to savour and sample dishes prepared by the most iconic culinary talents from across the island.
"The festival will be an epicurean delight and will highlight the best of Rainforest's diverse seafood offerings through well-known restaurants and chefs, including Scotchies, The Pelican, Fish Pot, Pier One, MoBay Proper, Spring Gardens Café, among many others," said the young Jardim.
And although a seafood event, CB Chicken, one of the largest food and agricultural operations in the Caribbean, and a major sponsor of the event, is expected to showcase their chicken and pork.
Other big names that will offer sponsorship include Scotiabank, Pepsi, Red Stripe, Digicel and National Bakery.
