Coffee & Cupcakes: The sweeter side to MoBay

Pairing coffee with cupcakes seems to have locals flocking the newly opened Coffee & Cupcakes shop at Donway Jamaican Style Village on Gloucester Avenue, Montego Bay's Hip Strip. Their sweet treats are absolutely delicious.
The exotic sorrel cupcake with whipped cream and sorrel sauce was extremely popular among persons with a sweet tooth during the festive season. In fact, the success of this particular cupcake helped to generate a buzz about the location and its offerings.
Pastry chefs Norma Davis and Nicole Fletcher told Food that they are committed to keeping the slogan 'A sweeter side to life' that way.
The coconut cupcakes, they say, is a favourite among children, who welcome the diversion from plain cupcakes.
In addition to the variety of sweet treats, customers have the opportunity of selecting other hot and cold treats like a cappuccino or a latté made with Blue Mountain coffee. A cold frappuccino and a delicious smoothie are also among the café's offerings, freshly made to suit each customer.
Owner of the Village, Donnal Chung, said the concept for Coffee & Cupcakes was inspired by her daughter, and she thought it would be great to introduce something special and intimate that everyone can enjoy.
She noted that even the name of the eatery came from the initials of her daughter, Christa Chung.
"Coffee & Cupcakes has a very intimate, relaxing-yet-authentic appeal. It's where anyone can just come in have some coffee with any of our sweet treats that are offered," Chung said.
The Jamaica-born businesswoman lived abroad and has worked in human-resource development for most of her life. The Donway Village, she revealed, is her way of sharing her journeys across the world with Jamaica by creating an authentic experience for food and entertainment.
The village boasts a state-of-the-art facility with restaurants, a sports bar, clubs, as well as a wine cellar. This village is a welcome addition to the area and is expected to revive leisure activities along the Hip Strip.
