THE EDITOR, Sir:

A group of citizens, including taxi operators, in Lime Hall, St Ann, came together on Sunday, March 24 and fixed a section of Laycock Street, which was riddled with large potholes and needed to be resurfaced.

The project was spearheaded by Kevin Thomas, aka 'Rico', a dynamic JUTA tour operator of the community who was the man behind organising the project. He was assisted by taxi operator Durrant Walters, aka 'Patty', Dalbert Buchanan, aka 'Pops' and 'Spragga', residents Carlos Campbell, aka Juba Leon Cole, Garnet Wollaston, alias 'Runna', among several other members of the community.

The road, which is in a deplorable state, had earned the wrath of taxi operators, who especially complain about their front ends being destroyed.

A contribution towards Sunday's project was made by the mayor and councillor of the area, Desmond Gilmore, among other citizens.

The residents have committed to continue work on the road whenever more contributions are received to purchase the material. It's also understood that Mayor Gilmore has promised to donate a load of marl towards this project.
