NCB Foundation gives Spanish Town Hospital boost

National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCB), through its philanthropic arm, the NCB Foundation, has donated J$1.175 million towards improving health-care services to children.

The foundation partnered with the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) to renovate and improve the paediatric ward at the Spanish Town Hospital, which was in dire need of improvement for some time. The upgraded facility was officially opened on December 18, 2015, and is now better equipped to meet the holistic health needs of the patients it serves.

In bringing sponsor's greetings, NCB branch manager, St Jago, Xavier Allen stated, "We are thrilled to support an institution which provides such vital care to so many of our children. He continued, "As a socially responsible organisation, we strive to always do what's best for our nation.

This is translated in our sustained commitment to sharing our profits with our community by providing financial assistance to organisations which themselves serve our people. Further, we recognise our role in providing opportunities today that will chart a course for future generations."

With the growing need for reliable health care across the island, public facilities are often challenged where it concerns delivering more efficient services to patients at affordable costs. The generous support of corporate entities such as NCB to support the work of local health-care facilities has proven of significant benefit to the many children and families who are served.

The work completed at the paediatric ward included tiling, painting, erecting partitions, and improving the nurses' station and storage cabinetry, sports and community development, and youth leadership and entrepreneurship.
