ISupport continues partnership with Heroes in Action event
ISupport Jamaica has renewed its position as the online crowdfunding platform to facilitate computer-based donations for the second staging of the Heroes in Action 4k Fun Run and 8K Run/Walk, staged by the Usain Bolt Foundation and the JN Foundation.
The event is slated to be held on October 16, starting and ending at the historic Falmouth Pier in Trelawny. The online platform will accept donations for the event and the funds will support projects at the Granville Place of Safety and the Victim Services Division in Trelawny.
ISupport Jamaica also promotes funding for projects and activities, which target nation building. Phillip Lindsay, project officer for ISupport Jamaica says that aligning the brand with the upcoming charity event is primarily to establish a convenient path for persons, including Jamaicans in the diaspora, to be "heroes for the cause.
"Heroes in Action will be one of the highlights of the Heroes weekend in western Jamaica. However, for those who are not able to physically participate, the online platform has been positioned as a viable channel for them to pledge their support to nation building," said Lindsay.
NATION BUILDING
He indicated that Jamaicans in the diaspora are keen on nation building, and, individually, they play vital roles in the development of young people. Therefore, this online channel will provide them with reliable and secure access to donate to projects, as they give back to their beloved country.
Saffrey Brown, general manager of the JN Foundation, posits that continued donations and support from the public will contribute to the realisation of a comfortable and conducive environment for the education of girls at the Granville Place of Safety, as well as to enhance the delivery of special programmes carried out by the victim services division.
"Last year, we received positive responses from Jamaicans locally and overseas, and, therefore, we are optimistic that this year we could garner an increase in the monetary pledges posted on the ISupport Jamaica platform, which will make a major difference in the future of our beneficiaries," Brown stated. Lindsay pointed out that while donors will be personally gratified by their contributions, they will also be rewarded, as each person making a donation of US$150 or more, will receive a Usain Bolt-autographed Puma shirt.
In addition to making donations via ISupport Jamaica, persons may also make direct deposits at JN branches and MoneyShops to the JN Account #2094208750.
